My nest before I added some curb appeal. Rather plain and unattractive wouldn't you say. Sweetie didn't care but I did. So here is a breakdown of what I did.
1. Paint your entry Door
Try a splash of gorgeous color to enhance your entry door. Yellow is definitely a happy mood maker.

2. Window Boxes
Deliver a striking splash of color to liven up the mood. I chose to add these daffodils in yellow to match the front door. There is dirt in the boxes not foam (too flimsy) and I stuck them into the dirt. You guessed it, they are fakes. Lol, I don't have time to water and growth is somewhat iffy since this is the shady part of my house. So I carefully picked out these daffodils since they look pretty natural and it really worked. Now I do change them up with the season. The next set will be yellow daisies. Since we are all about thrifty think about this, you only have to buy them once and reuse them every year. I think it can be quite an art challenge to make a statement with your window box and you get to use your color sense.

3. Define your landscape with fencing
I went to Lowe's to see what they had and decided to get two white fence sections. You don't have to surround your entire yard with fencing to create an interesting focal point.

4. Mulch your yard.
There is nothing like a nice rich looking flower bed with clean lines to compliment your front yard. By the way did you ever hear of artillery fungus. A good friend had pressure washed my house and had noticed these tiny black spots on my siding and porch. I had smelled this musty smell but couldn't figure out what caused it. So if you smell a musty smell around your house, it's most likely your mulch. He told me that it was a fungus that shoots it's spores unto house, porch or wherever. It is found in mulch that is rotting due to moisture caused by humidity, excessive rain or being in the shade and never really drying out. In order to get rid of this fungus it needs to be replaced either by new mulch or rocks. I decided on rocks because I did not want to spend money on mulch every year. So I found these light grey rocks at Lowe's and made a border between the house and my plants.
The nest after!
So try it out and remember to paint your entry door first and then decide on your curb appeal colors, have fun!
