BeforeI ignored my step-child shed for quite a while because I had so many other things to do in my fixer upper. But eventually I could not ignore the sore spot in my landscape any longer. So I quickly painted it yellow and added a tree design on either side of the door. Good enough for about a year and then I noticed how the mildew (my southern climate) just kept creeping into the color and the wood trim was rotting out. But that's not all, the shingles needed replacing too.
Wow, the job is getting bigger already, add my design ideas to the picture and it was going to be quite a makeover. |
After

I was tossing all kinds of colors around in my head but in the end decided to go with a lemon yellow, close to what I had before, only because my house color is blue. The barn style was ordinary and plain, not very interesting, so I decided to attach a small roof and a porch to give it a little character. The porch was designed to create a small reprieve for the Gardner, lol, and her future vegetable garden.
You know by know, that I love stone, so for my shed I used pavers to establish a border, I happen to find rounded edging stones, same texture as the pavers, in a corner of my property and utilized them for a border effect. The trellis on either side of the door gave it a nice finishing touch.
